Automatic Weight Loss: First for Women Magazine June Edition
“Drop twelve pounds in seven days” says nutrition pro, Jorge Cruise, author of the ‘Cruise Control Diet’ (hahahahaha). The Automatic Weight Loss is actually due to intermittent fasting. So the idea behind intermittent fasting is that if you spend your entire day in the “fed state” then what you are actually doing is constantly storing fat. The excess fuel that you consume goes directly into fat cells. In a ‘fasted state’ when you have not actually eaten for hours, there is no excess fuel, and so the body switches to burning fat for fuel. Burning the stored fat is where the weight loss happens. Here is where the ‘Cruise Control Diet’ comes in, with the idea of demolishing hunger pangs and keeping energy levels geared up, tricking your body into immediately burning food for fuel, by eating pure fat snacks without breaking the fast. Apparently, eating fat decreases the bodies production of hunger promoting hormones and increases the production of satiety hormones, transforming health. So what are these pure fat snacks? He suggests; topping your salad with macadamia nuts which are rich in monounsaturated fats, use a quarter cup of ground flax seed and half a cup of parmesan cheese, using guacamole instead of mayonnaise (mayo, he suggests is made from mostly unhealthy fats, while guacamole is full of omega 9 fatty acids that stimulate fat burn). Pizza for lunch made with riced cauliflower, roasted chickpeas roasted with 2 tbsp of olive oil, steak salad also made with olive oil, and lemon cake, topped with whipped cream. Other suggestions are latte, strawberry pops, chocolate butter bombs, and margarita panacotta. High fat foods he suggests are made with coconut, olive, and avocado oils, nuts and seeds, and dairy, canola, corn, soy, and palm oils. So apparently, fasting cleanses the body of unhealthy cellular junk, signals the production of new cells and stimulating functional cells and is considered to be one of the most potent anti-aging methods. Fasting, allows for the body to recycle by reusing damaged or non useful cellular parts to build new functional cells, which is also supposed to help with producing less wrinkles and more even skin tone as well as a better cognitive function, strengthening your immune system, and reducing your risk of cancer. My problem is, that I have found that it doesn't take much in regards to eating chickpeas, nuts, avocado, whipped cream, before I have out eaten the weight loss benefits. For myself, every once in a while I really enjoy guacamole, pistachio nuts, whipped topping, jello, fruit, cauliflower pizza, only, I do find that I have to minimize my intake because I will have a resulting weight spike, when I indulge in these high fat foods. The article talks about Anna, who has lost 186 pounds, saying that she snacked on treats like chocolate orange truffles and how it was ‘like eating candy’. However, the good news is that the success that she has had is based on the keto diet. It seems the goal for her continued weight loss was to find a method to stave off hunger and feed her need for sweets.
