Working for 5 to 2 what a way to make a diet.
I feel like I’m on a roll, I talked about the Atkins diet, the Paleo diet, and now I am going to talk about the 5:2 diet. The 5:2 diet is exactly what it sounds like, you eat your normal calorie intake for five days and then for two days you only eat 25% of your normal calorie intake. So, if you eat 1200 calories everyday, then two out of those days you will eat only 300 calories. The 5:2 diet guides that I have researched, advise that on the normal calorie days you can eat what you want (not all that you want). There is no food restrictions like the Keto or Paleo diet. On the two days that you are fasting however, this diet does recommend eating eggs, as they are packed with nutrition and have minimal calories. So, basically this is the opposite of binging, this diet is based in restricting. I actually talked about this as a dietary plan earlier in regards to fasting. Essentially, this 5:2 diet involves two days of fasting. Yet this diet is based in only five days of normal eating, not binge eating. The other way of doing dieting is quite the opposite. It is based in having a cheat day. One day where you can eat anything you want for one day, but the truth is, for those who are addicted to food; they are unleashed! They are unleashed back into their addiction. For only one day eating is unlimited and so there are no limits placed on dietary intake. I have heard of one person who ate her entire weeks calorie intake in that one day, just like any alcoholic or drug addict. So in my estimation, to be able to achieve the 5:2 diet you will need to be able to not only be totally in control of your eating habits for five days but you have to be able to restrict yourself for two days to shock your system into ketosis. My question is; why not just have a standard and stable everyday way of dealing with food? That way you don't have to keep your calendar in mind. I can see somebody saying “not this week, but I will do it next week!” And then “Oops! Maybe the following week”. So to me, this diet may be a waste of time. I personally don't want to keep my schedule in mind about my food intake. I would rather have a food intake of consistency, where everyday I know what the expectations are, and therefore I know how to maintain my weight and, when I want to celebrate, I can, because I know I have maintained a consistency in my diet and now I can have something extra because I can. And the go right back to the diet. Your diet choice is your choice. These are the current options that are available for you to choose from. Back in the day, there were no real ‘diets’ per say, as we discussed earlier from the 1959 Teenage Beauty Guide. This diet was not an established and named diet and as such was not based in carbohydrates or fats. It was based in eating 1100 calories a day ,which were the calories recommended for losing weight, generally. The point of this, I think, is that you do have choices and if something speaks to you, then give it a try. If after a period of time you realize that it isn't working for you, then my suggestion is ,that you review your choices, look back on this list, pick another option, run an experiment, and see which one works for you.
